Candice Price, PhD

Dr. Candice (Allister) Price completed her PhD in Endocrinology at the University of California, Berkeley, after which she moved to the other side of the Bay to complete a 1 year postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine.  While there, she continued to apply the use of stable isotopes in vivo to understand the role of adipocyte function in insulin sensitive and insulin resistant humans.  Currently, as a postdoctoral scholar in the laboratory of Drs. Peter Havel and Kimber Stanhope, Dr. Price is assisting with the conduct of clinical studies investigating the effects of sugar-sweetened beverages on insulin resistance (measured by during a hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp) and metabolic dysfunction.  She is receiving training in the use of stable isotopes during non-steady-state conditions, microbiome specimen processing and analysis, and imaging techniques for the quantification of hepatic fat content, and visceral and subcutaneous fat volume.
